Just a quick response to an offline question about the photo used in the current header for this blog. This is the original unedited:
It’s Zephyranthus (identified by D of course – I wouldn’t know what it was) taken in Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil on a trip we took there in 2007. We were staying with a contact of D’s who was acting as our guide to see passionflowers growing in the wild. I was waiting for them to finish looking round the garden early one morning before we headed out for the day. I just turned and saw these blooms and took the photo with no premeditation. I suppose I should have removed the stalk of dried grass in the upper right. But it was spontaneous, the dew was natural the light was perfect and it just happened.
Anyway it was my desktop background for ages so it felt like an appropriate image to use as the header for the time being.
